Day 10: Bac Ha - Bac Ha market
I woke up with a special excitement because I was going to explore Coc Ly market, takes place on Tuesdays. Upon my arrival, I was struck by the diversity of colors and sounds: vibrant fabrics, fresh produce, noisy poultry, and the smiles of local ethnic groups like the H'mong Flowers, Dao, Tay, Phu La, and Nung. This market was a true sensory festival, a place of exchange and connection. Each corner of the market had its own unique atmosphere: vegetables, handmade fabrics, poultry... I was lucky to talk to the H'mong Flowers, whose traditional clothing and warm smiles deeply impressed me.

In the afternoon, we went to Ngai Phu Cho, a Phu La village 6 km from Bac Ha. The winding road offered splendid views of the terraced rice fields. A two-hour walk through the valley allowed us to admire the mountains, fields, and forests before reaching a breathtaking viewpoint of the rice fields. It was a moment of absolute tranquility, interrupted only by the wind and the song of the birds. Back in Bac Ha, I enjoyed a delicious dinner, fulfilled by this day full of discoveries. Day 11 - 12: Bac Ha - Hoang Su Phi - Hiking in Nam Khoa village
Continuing our trip to North Vietnam 21 days, we visited the former home of the H'mong King, Hoang A Tuong, on day 11. Built in the 1920s, it blends French and Vietnamese influences, offering a fascinating glimpse into the history of the region. After this visit, we had a free lunch, savoring local specialties. In the afternoon, we headed to Hoang Su Phi, a remote region famous for its terraced rice fields and stunning landscapes. Upon arrival, a local family warmly welcomed us into their stilt house, where we shared a delicious dinner, enjoying the hospitality of the locals.

The next day, we hiked to Nam Khoa village, passing through majestic mountains and endless rice fields. Welcomed by the Red Dao, dressed in their red Ao Dai, we discovered their medicinal traditions and way of life in harmony with nature. In the afternoon, we explored the fields, tea hills, and Yaos villages. This immersion in serene landscapes and authentic communities touched my heart, before finishing the day with a dinner and peaceful night surrounded by the mountains of Hoang Su Phi in Northern Vietnam.
Day 13 - 14: Hoang Su Phi - Tha village - Dong Van - Meo Vac
The journey to Ha Giang in my north vietnam itinerary 21-day was an adventure, with lush terraced rice fields stretching across the mountains, hills covered in palm trees, and villages with traditional houses seemingly suspended between sky and earth. At every turn, the beauty of the landscapes fascinated me, and I couldn’t help but stop to take photos. Arriving at Tha village, inhabited by the Tay people, we discovered their simple way of life, perfectly in harmony with nature. Welcoming and smiling, the locals communicated with gestures and kind looks. That evening, we were invited to spend the night at a local home in a simple but comfortable setting. The dinner, made with local products, was a warm sharing moment, and the night, rocked by the sounds of the countryside, filled me with gratitude.

What to do in 3 week in North Vietnam ? The next day, we climbed the pass to the "Gate of Heaven," offering a spectacular view of the Dong Van Karst Plateau. We then visited Lung Tam weaving village, where traditional weaving has been passed down through generations. After crossing verdant valleys and steep passes, we discovered Sung La valley, a picturesque village with stone houses. The visit to the H'mong King Palace, with its view of mountains with strange shapes, was a highlight. Finally, we reached Dong Van, filled with wonder and gratitude for this day full of discoveries.

Day 15 - 16: Meo Vac - Khuoi Khon - Bao Lac - Cao Bang
In the morning, we explored the Ma Pi Leng Pass, nicknamed, spectacular 25-kilometer pass connects Dong Van and Meo Vac, offering breathtaking views of Nho Que river and majestic mountains. The road, known as the "Road of Happiness," was built in 1965 by ethnic minorities in just 11 months, an incredible feat in such difficult terrain. Each turn provided a breathtaking panorama.

In the afternoon, we took the road to Bao Lac, making a detour to visit the Lo Lo Black people in Khuoi Khon village, famous for being the location of the show "Rendez-vous en Terre Inconnue." in north vietnam itinerary 3 weeks. We continued our journey to Bao Lac, where we finished the day with a delicious dinner at a local restaurant, before enjoying the tranquility of the evening and settling in for the night.
We left Bao Lac for the Kim Cuc Bridge, starting a 6 km walk to the San Chi village, where time seemed to stand still. The San Chi, close to the Dao people, wear traditional black hemp clothing, and their way of life remains simple and peaceful. The village, with its stilt houses, exuded an authentic tranquility.

While exploring Northern Vietnam 3 weeks, we observed animals under the houses and villagers absorbed in their daily activities. My children were fascinated by the animals and handcrafted items, while my wife and I appreciated the simplicity of this life in harmony with nature. Later, we crossed the Ngan Son pass, where the winding road and rugged landscape added to the adventure. Upon our arrival in Cao Bang, the fresh air and cultural diversity of the Tay, Nung, Dao, and H'mong people immediately struck us. In the evening, we reached our hotel, happy to rest and reflect on this memorable day.
Day 17: Cao Bang - Ban Gioc waterfall - Nguom Ngao cave - Cao Bang
We started the day by visiting Ban Gioc waterfall, the most impressive waterfall in the region, located at the border with China. The waterfall, which stretches across multiple levels, poured its water with a powerful roar, surrounded by lush green mountains. The landscape, spectacular in every way, offered a breathtaking sight, a true harmony of nature.

After exploring the falls, we continued our journey to Nguom Ngao cave, a natural wonder nestled in the heart of the limestone mountains. Inside the cave, with its stalactites and stalagmites, a magical and mysterious atmosphere was created, transporting us to another world. We then visited Khuoi Ky stone village known for its tranquility and natural beauty. The traditional stone houses blended perfectly into the landscape, and the peaceful atmosphere allowed us to discover the way of life of the locals, living in harmony with nature.

At the end of the day, we headed back to Cao Bang, an authentic town still relatively untouched by tourism. After a delicious dinner at a local restaurant, I settled in for the night, my heart full of memories from this wonderful day of exploration.
Day 18: Cao Bang - Lang Son - Bac Son
After a delicious breakfast at the hotel, we set off toward Bac Son, in Lang Son province, situated in the heart of a spectacular valley. We took Colonial Route No.4, a historic road that winds through magnificent landscapes, passing through Dong Khe and That Khe. Every kilometer of the journey offered stunning views of the mountains and traditional villages.
During our North Vietnam itinerary 3-week, we discovered a beautiful valley surrounded by mountains and terraced rice fields. After climbing the 1,200 steps of Mount Na Lay, the spectacular view was worth every bit of effort. In the afternoon, we were warmly welcomed into a Tay villager's stilt house in Quynh Son, where the simplicity of the house and the authenticity of their hospitality deeply moved us. The traditional dinner was delicious, and spending the night in this natural setting was an unforgettable experience. I fell asleep serene, amazed by this magical day.
Day 19 - 20: Bac Son - Ha Long bay - Bai Tu Long bay
After spending several days in the mountains, our north vietnam itinerary 3 weeks led us on a cruise. We took the bus to Ha Long bay, a UNESCO World Heritage site. At the harbor, we boarded a cruise ship for Bai Tu Long bay, surrounded by limestone islands and emerald waters. After a welcome drink and safety briefing, we enjoyed a local lunch on board. In the afternoon, we explored the Thien Canh Son Cave, amazed by its natural beauty. In the evening, we enjoyed a magnificent sunset, followed by cocktails during Happy Hour and a cooking class where we learned how to prepare fried spring rolls. On the 21st day of our 3 week in North Vietnam tour, I woke up at sunrise to practice Tai Chi on the terrace, immersed in the serenity of the bay. After a light breakfast, we visited the floating village of Vung Vieng, discovering the lives of local fishermen through a bamboo boat tour and kayaking. On our way back to the harbor, we enjoyed brunch before returning to Hanoi. This day in Ha Long Bay will forever remain etched in my memory, a moment of calm, beauty, and discovery.
Day 21: Hanoi freetime - Departure
On the last day of our north Vietnam 3-week itinerary, after a relaxing breakfast, I spent the morning exploring Hanoi at my own pace, drawn to the vibrant charm of the Old Quarter. The city had already enchanted me, but today felt more intimate. I wandered through colorful markets, immersed in the intoxicating scents of fresh fruits, vegetables, and spices, exchanging warm, sincere words with the vendors as I picked up unique souvenirs. The afternoon passed in a blur, and by noon, it was time to check out. Before leaving, I took one last moment to breathe in the energy of Hanoi. On my return flight, I reflected on this unforgettable 21-day in North Vietnam, filled with stunning landscapes, authentic encounters, and memories I’ll cherish forever.
