Spend 1-week to discover Cao Bang Ha Giang with Mrs Catherine
Exploring Northern Vietnam had always been a dream of mine, a vision of the perfect, unforgettable vacation. So, when my dear friend and I decided to embark on a one week adventure through the breathtaking provinces of Cao Bang Ha Giang, we had no idea how profoundly this journey would impact us. Each day of our 1-week Cao Bang Ha Giang itinerary brought stunning landscapes, captivating history, and a vibrant cultural tapestry that we will never forget. I’m thrilled to share the extraordinary experiences we had as we discovered this remote and enchanting region, a place that will forever hold a special place in our hearts.

Day 1: Hanoi - Phia Thap incense village Cao Bang

Taking a Cao Bang Ha Giang 1-week tour, our journey began with an early morning departure from Hanoi. The excitement was palpable as we headed toward the mountainous Cao Bang province. After a few hours on the road, we arrived Quang Uyen Cao Bang, a peaceful and quaint destination that immediately captivated us. The locals were warm and welcoming, eager to share their craft and stories with us. It was a perfect introduction to the authenticity of rural Vietnam. We took a pause and enjoyed lunch here with all enthusiasm in Cao Bang Ha Giang 1 week travel itinerary.
In the afternoon, we explored the charming Phia Thap incense village, a hidden gem that felt like stepping into the past. Home to the Nung people, it was a privilege to witness their traditional way of life. We observed the meticulous art of incense-making, a craft passed down through generations, and even tried it ourselves. The process was intricate, leaving me in awe of the skill and patience involved. Talking with the locals and learning about their customs was both humbling and enlightening.

On our 1-week Cao Bang Ha Giang itinerary, we were welcomed into a Nung family's home for a traditional dinner. Their warmth and hospitality were heartwarming, and the home-cooked dishes, made with love, were unforgettable. Afterward, we gathered around a fire, sharing stories and laughter beneath the stars. That first night in the peaceful village, surrounded by nature’s sounds, was truly magical.

Day 2: Cao Bang – Ban Gioc Waterfall – Nguom Ngao Cave – Khuoi Ky

The next day of our one week in Cao Bang Ha Giang was one of the highlights of the entire trip. We journeyed to the magnificent Ban Gioc Waterfall, one of the largest and most impressive waterfalls in Vietnam. Standing to admire the waterfall, I felt dwarfed by the sheer power and beauty of the cascading water. The mist that rose from the base created a surreal, almost ethereal atmosphere. We spent hours here, simply soaking in the natural wonder.

Contnue Cao Bang Ha Giang one week tour, after a delightful morning, we headed to Phong Nam valley in the afternoon, where the landscape was nothing short of spectacular. The village is surrounded by unique karst formations, towering spires, conical peaks, and deep valleys, shaped over millions of years. Walking through this geologically rich area felt surreal, as if we had stepped into a natural masterpiece.

Explore Cao Bang Ha Giang 7 days, we then continued to Khuoi Ky, a charming village that was a serene retreat from the modern world. Khuoi Ky is also known for its stilt houses and the intricate handicrafts of the Tay people. As we chatted with the locals, I felt completely immersed in the authentic rural life of northern Vietnam. The lush surroundings, peaceful rhythm of life, and the stunning mountain views made it the perfect end to our second day in our Cao Bang Ha Giang trip

Day 3 - 4: Khuoi Ky - Bao Lac – Khuoi Khon - Meo Vac - Dong Van

As part of our 1-week Cao Bang Ha Giang itinerary, we arrived in Khuoi Ky stone village, and I was instantly enchanted by the village's distinct allure. Every house here is built entirely from stone, from the foundations to the rooftops, creating a timeless and rustic atmosphere. We took our time exploring the village, engaging with the locals, and hearing about the rich history and traditions of the area. They shared insights into how stone is deeply integrated into their everyday lives. It was a truly unique experience to soak in the peaceful surroundings, surrounded by stone structures and the soothing sounds of birds chirping.

Continuing our journey 1 week in Cao Bang Ha Giang, we arrive in Khuoi Khon village - home to the Black Lo Lo people, a must-visit destination in northern Vietnam tour. Stepping into their village felt like walking into a living storybook. The Black Lo Lo, adorned in their vibrant traditional attire, welcomed us with open arms, their smiles filled with genuine kindness. Learning about their way of life was an emotional experience, especially knowing that this village gained international recognition when "France 2" featured it in the show "Rendez-vous en terre inconnue" with the renowned rugby player Michalak.

From Khuoi Khon village, we embarked on an exhilarating journey toward the iconic Ma Pi Leng Pass, one of Vietnam’s most stunning mountain routes. Referred to as the "Horse’s Nose Ridge Mountain," this pass provided views that were beyond words. Standing along the 25-kilometer stretch connecting Meo Vac and Dong Van, I felt as though I was perched on the edge of the world. The towering cliffs, verdant valleys, and the serpentine Nho Que river below made each moment unforgettable. Amazingly, this "happiness road" was carved by ethnic minorities in just 11 months back in 1965—a remarkable display of human strength and perseverance.

What is the best time to travel to Cao Bang from Hanoi?

The best time to visit Vietnam as well as Cao Bang is during the dry season, from October to April, when the weather is cooler and more comfortable for traveling. However, the lush green landscapes of the rainy season (May to September) offer a unique charm for adventurous travelers, though be prepared for occasional rain and muddy roads.
