During my 3 days trip to the Central Highlands Vietnam, I had the opportunity to explore the natural and cultural treasures of Pleiku, Mang Den, and Kon Tum. I was truly amazed by its authentic natural beauty and cultural diversity. In Pleiku and Mang Den, I explored charming natural landscapes such as Bien Ho Lake and majestic waterfalls. While Kon Tum allowed me to observe interesting spiritual and cultural sites. 3 days in the Central Highlands of Vietnam is an unforgettable experience, discovering the magical beauty of the highlands of Vietnam through its landscapes and people.
Best time to visit Central Highlands: From November to April of the year, it’s generally an ideal time to travel and explore this region. The climate is mild, sunny, and warm, the scenery is fresh, enough to allow you to fully admire the beauty of this place.
Especially in spring, wild sunflowers bloom everywhere, you will be even more fascinated by the beauty of the "mountain city". Avoid traveling from May to October because the Central Highlands of Vietnam are in the harsh rainy season.
Before, I usually had beach holidays, but this time I decided to try a change of pace by visiting the Central Highlands of Vietnam, where the sun and wind are always present.
Tourism in this region is not only related to the Gong culture, which permeates the ethnic identity of the highlands, but also offers a cool and temperate climate all year round. Surrounded by majestic mountains and lush forests, I was captivated by the rustic and attractive beauty of this place.
Central Highlands is truly an authentic site to visit in Vietnam, especially for those who love nature and want to explore local life while having unique experiences with the locals.
When I arrived at Pleiku airport, I immediately felt the fresh air and cool breezes coming from the surrounding forests. In Pleiku, I think there are some must-visit destinations, such as:
When I thought about tourism in Pleiku, Bien Ho Lake immediately came to mind. Known as "The Eye of Pleiku”, Bien Ho Lake is located in the city center. This large natural lake, once the crater of an extinct volcano, amazed me with its clear blue water, always present throughout the year. Surrounded by vast pine forests, Bien Ho Lake has created a poetic and peaceful space, a true haven of tranquility.
Continuing my trip, I visited the Plei Op cultural village, founded in 1927 in the heart of Pleiku. This village is home to more than 100 households and more than 500 inhabitants, mainly Jrai. While wandering around this ethnic village, I had the chance to discover the impressive traditional culture of this group.
The Krong houses and wooden statues, emblematic of their heritage, were omnipresent, immersing me in a world rich in history. Beyond the cultural discovery, I was also able to observe the daily life of the Jrai people. It is a truly new experience for me.
In Pleiku, I also visited the Minh Thanh Pagoda. Often considered the most beautiful in Pleiku, this pagoda amazed me as soon as I arrived. The Buddha statues, in ancient hues, evoke a soothing serenity, while the architecture inspired by Japanese gardens creates an atmosphere of elegance and meditation. The back of the temple, decorated with bright colors, stood out majestically in the surrounding landscape. I also met many young people, attracted by its beauty and the opportunity to practice their religion, making this experience all the more enriching.
On the second day of a 3 days trip to Vietnam’s Central Highlands, I started moving towards Kon Tum. I had the opportunity to discover several fascinating sites that left a deep impression on me.
It is an architectural masterpiece that impressed me with its unique structure and warm atmosphere. Kon Tum Wooden Church is built entirely of wood, in a Roman style combined with the stilt house architecture of the Bahnar people, and has existed for more than 100 years.
Kon Tum Wooden Church is a masterpiece because it was designed in romantic architecture, harmoniously combining the stilt house style of the Bahnar people, so it is imbued with the cultural and religious nuances of local people in the Central Highland, from the decorative lines to the reflections of the materials. Colorful sculptures and frescoes tell the story of the land and its people, creating a captivating spiritual atmosphere.
Then I crossed the Kon Klor suspension bridge. This bridge spans the Dakbla River, offering a breathtaking view of the surrounding landscape. Not having a splendid and luxurious beauty like other bridges built today, the Kon Klor suspension bridge of the Kon Tum mountain forest has in itself a charming beauty due to its rusticity and simplicity. The cables of this suspension bridge are stained by the moss of time, but this bridge still wins my affection.
Finally, my visit to the Bahnar Communal House allowed me to immerse myself in the local culture. This vibrant place is a symbol of Bahnar hospitality. I had the opportunity to interact with the locals, learn about their traditions and taste their delicious cuisine. This cultural immersion enriched my stay and left me with unforgettable memories.
On the third day, I took my last hours to wander around the bustling streets of the city, trying one last local meal in a small restaurant. The authentic flavors of Vietnamese cuisine were the highlight of my stay.
Before leaving Pleiku, I visited a local market, where I bought some unique souvenirs from the Central Highlands of Vietnam.

Although less lively and famous than other cities in Vietnam, I still had moments of immersion and absolute relaxation there.
