This land of legends includes provinces such as Dak Lak, Dak Nong, Gia Lai, Kon Tum, Lam Dong, and the coffee capital, Buon Ma Thuot.

On the first day of my 1 week in the Central Highlands of Vietnam, I departed from Ho Chi Minh City in the early morning, eager to explore Da Lat. After several hours on the road, I arrived in this charming city, often called the "City of Eternal Spring," nestled among pine forests and rolling green hills. As evening fell, I wandered through the bustling night market, where vibrant stalls displayed an array of fresh strawberries, colorful flowers, and enticing local delicacies. The lively atmosphere and aromatic street food immediately enchanted me. Before retiring for the night, I stopped by a small food stall to savor a steaming bowl of soup, savoring the first flavors of my 1 week adventure in the Vietnam Central Highlands.

Day 2: Discover the enchanting landscapes of Da Lat

I began this second day of my 1 week in the Central Highlands of Vietnam with a unique experience: taking the old-fashioned train from Da Lat. This picturesque 7 km journey to Trai Mat immersed me in a nostalgic atmosphere, lulled by rolling landscapes and colorful flowerbeds.

Upon arriving in Da Lat, I was immediately captivated by Linh Phuoc Pagoda, an architectural masterpiece covered in vibrant ceramic mosaics depicting Buddhist legends. The intricate details and peaceful atmosphere made it a mesmerizing stop. After this spiritual visit, I craved some excitement and headed to Datanla Waterfall. There, I took on the thrilling rail toboggan ride, which raced through the dense pine forest at high speed, delivering an adrenaline-filled adventure!

For lunch, I enjoyed a delicious meal with a breathtaking panoramic view of the rolling green hills before continuing my exploration at the Clay Tunnel. This artistic marvel showcased Da Lat’s history through impressive terracotta sculptures, bringing the city’s past to life.

To conclude the day of 1 week in the Central Highlands of Vietnam, I found serenity at Tuyen Lam Lake, a hidden gem embraced by lush forests. As I listened to birdsong and the gentle lapping of the water, I fully immersed myself in the tranquility of the Vietnam Central Highlands.

Day 3: Visit the magnificent Lak Lake

On day 3 of my 1 week in the Central Highlands of Vietnam, I visited Lak Lake, one of Vietnam's largest natural lakes, nestled in a pristine environment. Its mystical atmosphere and spectacular scenery made it an ideal stopover for nature lovers. I then began my visit to Bao Dai Summer Palace, a former royal residence offering breathtaking views of the lake's shimmering waters. Afterward, I embarked on a traditional dugout canoe ride across the lake.

In the evening, I attended a gong show. This sacred music is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This concluded day 3 of my 1 week in the Central Highlands of Vietnam.

Day 4: Meeting with ethnic groups and elephants

My day began with a visit to the Buon Ma Thuot Ethnographic Museum, a fascinating place where I learned about the traditions and customs of the Ede and Mnong peoples. I continued with a must-see: the Coffee Museum, where I tasted different local varieties while admiring architecture inspired by traditional longhouses.

The afternoon was spent exploring the Dray Nur and Dray Sap waterfalls. These impressive waterfalls, nestled in the heart of a lush forest, offer a breathtaking spectacle. I took advantage of the cool water for an invigorating swim, fully savoring the authenticity of 1 week in the Central Highlands of Vietnam, before heading back to the city.

Then, I headed to Lake T'Nung - the pearl of Pleiku, a natural wonder formed by a volcanic crater, where I enjoyed a final moment of serenity before leaving. Before leaving the Vietnam Central Highlands, I made a final stop in a Bahnar village, where the locals welcomed me with kindness.

This 1 week in the Central Highlands of Vietnam offered me much more than breathtaking landscapes: a deep immersion in unspoiled nature and valuable learning about the traditions and know-how of the local people.
