1. When to go? Discover Vietnam’s perfect weather

Vietnam’s diverse geography means the climate can vary dramatically from region to region. Having journeyed across the country, I highly recommend traveling between November and April for the most pleasant conditions:

Northern Vietnam (Hanoi, Halong Bay, Ninh Binh): Enjoy cool, dry weather - perfect for exploring Hanoi’s bustling streets and cruising among the stunning limestone karsts of Halong Bay.
Central Vietnam (Da Nang, Hoi An, Hue): Bask in sunny skies and moderate temperatures. Although September to November can bring occasional showers, the overall climate is very inviting.
Southern Vietnam (Ho Chi Minh City, Mekong Delta): Experience warm weather year-round. The dry season from December to April is ideal for boat excursions and outdoor adventures without a hint of rain.

This is my personal Vietnam 10-day itinerary, designed to help you discover what to see in Vietnam in 10 days and ensure your experience is unforgettable.

1. Day 1: Arrival in Ho Chi Minh City

I arrived in Ho Chi Minh City at Tan Son Nhat Airport, where a driver from Autour Asia was waiting to welcome me. The transfer to my centrally located hotel was smooth, and once settled in, I immediately headed out to explore Nguyen Hue Pedestrian Street. I enjoyed some local snacks like "bánh tráng nướng" and milk tea, all while soaking in the lively atmosphere of the city. This was just the beginning of my Vietnam 10-day itinerary, and I was already excited for what’s to come!

2. Day 2: Cu Chi Tunnels & the Mekong Delta

On my second day, I visited the Cu Chi Tunnels, a place that truly showcases the resilience and ingenuity of the Vietnamese during the war. Walking through these tunnels was an unforgettable experience.

Afterward, I took a boat ride through the Mekong Delta, passing serene islands and experiencing traditional southern Vietnamese music. This day was one of my personal highlights, a great example of what to see in Vietnam in 10 days.

3. Day 3: Flight to Da Nang

I flew from Ho Chi Minh City to Da Nang, a coastal city where I could unwind after the hustle and bustle of Ho Chi Minh City. The calm vibe of Da Nang was a perfect contrast to the city life, giving me a chance to recharge for the adventures ahead.

4. Day 4: Marble Mountains, Linh Ứng Pagoda & Hoi An by Night

That afternoon, I explored the Marble Mountains, a place full of sacred caves and temples. The Linh Ứng Pagoda, with its giant statue of the Goddess of Mercy, offered a peaceful retreat with amazing views of the city.

Later, I went to Hoi An, a UNESCO World Heritage site, where I wandered the streets lit by lanterns and enjoyed the famous Cao Lầu dish. It was a magical night and a key highlight of my Vietnam 10-day itinerary.

5. Day 5: Bà Nà Hills & the Golden Bridge

Day five was a day full of adventure at Bà Nà Hills. I rode the longest cable car in Southeast Asia to the summit, where I was rewarded with breathtaking views of Da Nang and the sea. After exploring the French Village and enjoying a buffet, I spent the afternoon at Fantasy Park, filled with thrilling attractions. This day was a blend of natural beauty and adrenaline, making it a standout in my 10 days in Vietnam.

6. Day 6: Off to Hanoi

The next day, I flew from Da Nang to Hanoi, the historical heart of Vietnam. Hanoi’s charm is undeniable - the peaceful Hoan Kiem Lake and the narrow alleys were perfect for exploring. I even tried the famous egg coffee and spent time just soaking in the atmosphere. Hanoi’s authentic vibe immediately captured my heart, making it an essential part of my Vietnam 10-day itinerary.

7. Day 7: Discover Ninh Binh’s Natural Wonders

I headed to Ninh Binh, often called the “Halong Bay on land.” I explored the ancient temples of Hoa Lu before taking a boat ride through the stunning landscape of Trang An. The limestone cliffs and caves were incredible, and I also had the chance to cycle through rice paddies - an incredibly peaceful and refreshing experience. This part of my journey was definitely one of the most scenic on my Vietnam 10-day itinerary.

8. Day 8: Halong Bay & the Dragon Bay Cruise

In the morning, I set off for Ha Long Bay, a mesmerizing UNESCO World Heritage site known for its emerald waters and towering limestone karsts. Stepping aboard the Dragon Bay, a luxurious cruise ship, I indulged in a fresh seafood lunch while soaking in the breathtaking panoramic views.

The afternoon brought an exciting kayaking adventure through the bay’s tranquil waters, allowing me to glide past hidden caves and lush islets, completely immersed in nature’s beauty. As the sun set, I savored a sumptuous seafood dinner before trying my hand at squid fishing under a glittering starry sky. The entire experience was nothing short of magical - peaceful, thrilling, and utterly unforgettable.

9. Day 9: Ha Long Bay & Return to Hanoi

On day 9 of my 10-day journey through Vietnam, I had one last chance to soak in the beauty of Ha Long Bay. This time, I explored Frog Pond and kayaked through more secluded areas, enjoying a peaceful escape far from the crowds. The return to the bustling city felt a bit abrupt after so much tranquility and natural beauty, but I was grateful to have experienced one of the world's most breathtaking destinations.

10. Day 10: Farewell Hanoi

On my last day in Vietnam, I took it easy- shopping for souvenirs, walking around Hoan Kiem Lake, and reflecting on the amazing experiences I’d had.
