Day 1: Ho Chi Minh City – Ben Tre
Visit

Ho Chi Minh City in the morning, filled with anticipation for the adventure ahead. The drive to Ben Tre was smooth and picturesque, with the vast, green countryside slowly unfolding around us. The moment we arrived in Ben Tre, I immediately fell in love with the calm atmosphere and the lush beauty of the area. The riverside, the swaying coconut palms, and the warm smiles of the locals made it feel like we had stepped into a peaceful paradise.
After settling into our hotel in
Ben Tre, we took a leisurely boat ride through the canals, surrounded by towering coconut trees in

It was such a wonderful experience – the market was vibrant, full of color, and full of friendly faces. We got to interact with the locals, buy fresh fruit, and immerse ourselves in the bustling daily life of the village. The kids had a blast trying exotic fruits they’d never seen before – their excitement was contagious, and I couldn’t help but smile.

After leaving the market, we journeyed toward Long Xuyen. Along the way, we made a stop at the
Kien An Cung pagoda, which took my breath away with its stunning architecture and serene atmosphere. It was the perfect spot to reflect and take a moment to enjoy the quiet beauty of the
Mekong Delta. Later, we visited
Huynh Thuy Le ancient house, famously featured in the novel The Lover by Marguerite Duras. The house, with its elegant colonial architecture, was a fascinating glimpse into the past. It felt like stepping into a novel, and we were all captivated by the stories of its history.

Visit Mekong delta 5 days, When we reached Sa Dec, we couldn’t resist exploring the local market, filled with fresh fish, colorful fruits, and vegetables. The kids had a field day trying all the delicious treats, and we picked up a few to snack on later. Afterward, we made our way to Long Xuyen, where we visited the Cao Dai Temple and a crocodile farm. The kids were absolutely fascinated by the crocodiles, and my husband was more than a little amazed by how large they were. It was definitely one of the more thrilling experiences of the trip! By the end of the day, we were all tired but happy, and we spent the night in Long Xuyen, looking forward to more adventures in 5-day Mekong delta itinerary.
Day 3: Long Xuyen – Chau Doc
We began the third day in 5-day Mekong Delta itinerary with an early breakfast and a boat ride to the famous Long Xuyen floating market. The market was so lively and colorful, with boats selling everything from fresh produce to local snacks. The kids loved waving at the vendors and watching the boats drift by. As we cruised along the river, we passed by fish farms and saw the way local people lived and worked along the water. It was such a peaceful and authentic experience.
Next, we headed to
Cu Lao Ong Ho island, where we visited a museum dedicated to President Ton Duc Thang. It was a quiet and reflective spot, and we learned a lot about the region’s history. The kids were excited to bike around the island, meet locals, and discover the island’s hidden beauty. It felt like we were truly experiencing life in the heart of the
Mekong Delta. Later in the day, we arrived in
Chau Doc An Giang, a charming town nestled at the foot of Sam mountain. We spent some time exploring the bustling Chau Doc market and then took a boat ride to visit a floating fish farm and a traditional Cham village. The kids enjoyed learning about the Cham people’s culture and crafts, and it was great to see them so engaged in a new way of life.
Travel
5 days in Mekong delta, as the sun began to set, we made our way to Sam Mountain, where we explored the colorful temples and pagodas, including Ba Chua Xu pagoda, Lang Thoai Ngoc Hau, and
Tay An pagoda. The panoramic views from the top were breathtaking, and the peaceful atmosphere made it feel like we had discovered a hidden gem. Afterward, we enjoyed a relaxing evening walk in the town center of Chau Doc, reflecting on all that we had seen and done.
Day 4: Chau Doc – Tra Su – Hang Pagoda – Ha Tien
Explore
Mekong Delta 5-day itinerary, on the fourth day, we departed early for the
Tra Su nature reserve, known for its incredible biodiversity. We took a boat ride through the flooded mangrove forest, listening to the soft sounds of birds chirping from the cajuput trees. It was such a peaceful, almost magical experience – like stepping into another world. The kids were captivated by the wildlife, and we all marveled at the beauty of the reserve.
We then continued our journey 5-days Mekong Vietnam tour to Ha Tien, a beautiful coastal town on the border with Cambodia. Along the way, we stopped at a small beach, where the kids spent time playing in the sand and splashing in the water. We also visited Hang pagoda, perched high on a hill with stunning views of the surrounding area. The Phu Tu rocks, also known as the Father and Son rocks, were another highlight. These massive rocks, one of which fell into the sea a few years ago, have a deep symbolic meaning that resonated with us.
Later, we made our way to Ha Tien, where we visited the Mac Cuu Temple, dedicated to the region’s 18th-century governor. We also explored the Thanh Van Cave (Thach Dong), a mystical spot that added a sense of adventure to our trip. After a day of exploration, we relaxed and enjoyed the last moments of our journey in this peaceful town.
Day 5: Ha Tien – Return to Ho Chi Minh City. End of trip
On our final day of Mekong delta 5-day itinerary, we had a leisurely breakfast and some free time to explore Ha Tien. We visited a few more temples and took in the last sights before beginning our journey back to Ho Chi Minh City. As we drove away from the Mekong Delta, I couldn’t help but feel a sense of gratitude for the incredible experiences we had shared as a family.
