Day 1 : Ho Chi Minh city - Mekong Delta - Ben Tre
As I set off for a one week adventure in the Mekong Delta, my first destination was the charming town of Ben Tre, a place renowned for its coconut candies and vibrant local life. We departed early from the bustling Hung Vuong Pier, heading toward the tranquil waters of the Ben Tre river, one of the many arms of the mighty Mekong. From the boat, I could already sense the peaceful rhythm of life here. The locals, with their kind smiles, go about their day in a way that feels so different from the hurried pace of the city.

We then indulged in a delicious lunch, sampling the local fruits in a nearby garden. The sweetness of the fruit, combined with the picturesque surroundings, made it a true highlight of the day.
Spent 7 days in Mekong delta, our boat journey continued deeper into the Mekong Delta to Binh Hoa Phuoc. There, we visited a vibrant local market, where fresh produce created a visual feast. We also explored a serene bonsai garden, showcasing the intricate art of miniature tree cultivation. Next, we toured a pottery workshop, where skilled artisans crafted beautiful, functional pieces rooted in the island’s traditions. We then headed to Vinh Long, where we wandered through a lively market overflowing with fresh fruits, vegetables, and fish, offering a sensory immersion in the region's abundance.

After leaving Vinh Long, we headed to Can Tho, the largest city in the Mekong Delta. Upon arrival, we had some free time to relax and take a peaceful stroll along Ninh Kieu quay, enjoying the serene view of the Mekong River with boats drifting by. That evening, we checked into our hotel, reflecting on the day's adventures. With more to explore tomorrow, we settled in for a restful night, having truly experienced the heart of the Mekong Delta.
Day 3: Can Tho - Soc Trang - Vi Thanh
Continuing my
1 week Mekong Delta itinerary, after a hearty breakfast, we set off early in the morning for a fascinating day ahead. We transferred by car to the dock, where we boarded a boat to witness the vibrant
Cai Rang floating market, the largest and most dynamic market of the Mekong region. As we approached, the scene was nothing short of mesmerizing. The air was thick with the scent of fresh fruit, rice, and local products, while the colorful boats, known as sampans, were brimming with goods. Everywhere you looked, vendors were busy haggling and selling their wares, creating a lively and bustling atmosphere. It was truly an experience to see so many people conducting business on the water, a tradition that has been passed down through generations.

After leaving the market, our boat journey continued through the peaceful canals of the region in 7 days Mekong delta trip, where life seemed to slow down. We stopped at a local fruit garden, where I tasted some of the freshest tropical fruits, their sweetness far surpassing anything from a supermarket. Next, we visited Dơi Pagoda, home to thousands of bats hanging from the roof, a fascinating sight. We also toured the Ancient Khmer Kh'leng Pagoda, known for its stunning architecture, and the peaceful Clay Pagoda (Chùa Đất Sét), offering a serene moment of reflection. As the day came to a close, we made our way back to Vi Thanh, where we enjoyed a delicious dinner. After a full day of exploration, we rested for the night, already looking forward to the next chapter of our journey.
Day 4: Vi Thanh - Can Tho - Long Xuyen

I hopped on a bike and set off through the lush greenery that defines this region. Pedaling along small rural paths, I passed by vibrant fruit gardens, where the air was filled with the sweet scent of ripening tropical fruits. The beauty of the countryside was breathtaking, and it was a wonderful way to immerse myself in the peaceful rhythms of local life. Along the way, I met some of the kindest and most welcoming people, who greeted me with warm smiles and friendly waves. It was easy to see how tightly knit the community is, and I felt grateful for the chance to experience it firsthand.

After my bike ride on

Walking through the house, I felt as though I had stepped back in time.
Visit one week in Mekong delta, I also visited Bang Lang stork sanctuary, a haven for birdwatchers. The park was teeming with thousands of egrets, their white feathers standing out against the vibrant green of the surrounding trees. Watching these graceful birds in their natural habitat was a peaceful and awe-inspiring experience. Finally, I made my way to a crocodile farm, where I got a closer look at these fascinating reptiles. The farm had a wide variety of crocodiles, and I was able to learn about their breeding and conservation efforts. It was an exciting visit, though I kept a safe distance!

Day 5: Long Xuyen – Tra Su melaleuca forest – Chau Doc
Visit Mekong delta 7 days, I woke up early the next morning, eager to make the most of the day. The air was fresh, and the Mekong Delta was already buzzing with life. I set off for Tra Su melaleuca forest, a breathtaking place renowned for its unique biodiversity with flooded mangrove forest, and as I arrived, I was immediately struck by its beauty. It’s a birdwatcher’s paradise, with an abundance of species filling the trees and the air. The best way to explore it was from the comfort of a small rowing boat, which gently glided through the winding canals beneath the dense canopy of trees. Next, I drove toward Chau Doc, a town nestled near the Cambodian border, known for its scenic beauty and cultural significance. My first stop was Sam Mountain, which rises 287 meters above the flat terrain. At the top, the views were stunning, and I explored the colorful temples and pagodas dotting the mountain, including Ba Chua Xu pagoda,
Thoai Ngoc Hau tomb, and
Tay An pagoda. Each temple had its own unique charm, with intricate carvings and peaceful surroundings that made them perfect places for reflection and spiritual connection.

In the afternoon of this 7-day Mekong itinerary, I leisurely explored Chau Doc’s bustling market, immersed in the vibrant colors, mix of scents, and lively chatter. In An Giang, I took a boat to the floating fish village, where I saw locals farming fish in the Mekong and learned about their sustainable practices. The ride also brought me to the Cham Islamic village, where I engaged with the community and their rich traditions. After a week in the Mekong, returning to Chau Doc felt like completing a journey through the Delta’s vibrant life, filled with breathtaking landscapes, cultural insights, and warm encounters, an unforgettable conclusion to my Vietnam adventure.
Day 6: Chau Doc - Tram Chim national park - Sa Dec
After a restful night in Chau Doc, I woke up excited for the adventures of day six of the Mekong Delta 1 week itinerary. After breakfast, we set off for Tram Chim National Park, a beautiful and tranquil haven located in the heart of the Mekong Delta. This park is known for its rich biodiversity, especially its birdlife. As we explored the park, I marveled at the lush wetlands, the towering grasses, and the impressive array of birds, many of which were rare species. It was a peaceful experience, with the sounds of nature surrounding me, offering a glimpse into the unique ecosystem that thrives here.

Each tree was a miniature masterpiece, and it was fascinating to witness the skill and dedication the gardeners poured into their craft.
Next, we explored the
Kien An Cung pagoda, a peaceful and serene place. The pagoda, with its intricate carvings and beautiful architecture, offered a quiet moment for reflection and admiration. Afterward, we visited the
Huynh Thuy Le house, which has a special place in literary history. This house, immortalized in the novel The Lover by Marguerite Duras, has an air of romance and mystery. As I wandered through the house, I couldn’t help but imagine the love story that had unfolded within these walls, bringing the novel’s pages to life.
Day 7 : Sa Dec freetime - Ho Chi Minh city. Departure
On the last day of the Mekong delta 1-week itinerary, we also explored the bustling Sa Dec market, which was an explosion of colors and smells. Fish, fruits, vegetables, everything was fresh and locally sourced. The market was a perfect snapshot of daily life in Sa Dec, and I loved the energy of the place, interacting with the vendors and experiencing the local culture. The peaceful morning was the perfect opportunity to stroll through the town, soaking in the sights, sounds, and smells of this charming place one last time. I wandered through the quiet streets, visited the local markets, and took in the serene atmosphere. It felt like the perfect way to wrap up this unforgettable experience. Returning to Saigon, I found that the contrast between the bustling streets and the Delta’s tranquility was striking. As I boarded my flight, I carried memories of a week filled with nature, culture, and new friendships, knowing I’d return to uncover more hidden gems.
