But what truly won me over was the food: tiny hidden spots in the backstreets that have been perfecting a single dish for years. Between sipping egg coffee, watching a water puppet show, and strolling around Hoan Kiem Lake, Hanoi completely charmed me from the very first day.

In Siem Reap, sunrise at Angkor Wat is an absolute must. Even if you’re not a morning person, it’s more than worth the early start: the temple towers slowly emerge in the soft light, creating an almost magical, otherworldly atmosphere. You should also take your time exploring Angkor Thom and the Bayon Temple, famous for its enormous carved faces, before continuing on to Ta Prohm, where giant tree roots appear to swallow the ancient ruins. Between visits, I highly recommend stopping at Artisans Angkor. It’s a wonderful place to see traditional silk, wood, and stone craftsmanship up close, and it’s also one of the best spots to buy high-quality souvenirs.
Days 16–18: Chiang Mai

Chiang Mai quickly became one of my favorite stops, especially Elephant Nature Park. If you do only one activity here, make it this one: you can feed the elephants, walk with them to the river, and see them in a respectful, natural environment—no shows or forced rides. The day before, I highly recommend climbing up to Wat Phra That Doi Suthep and ending the evening with a Khantoke dinner—sitting on cushions, watching Lanna dances, and tasting northern specialties. Days 19–21: Bangkok

In Bangkok, I plunged back into the energy of a city that truly never sleeps. The Grand Palace, Wat Phra Kaew, and Wat Pho reminded me how beautifully this city blends grandeur, spirituality, and modernity. I also loved the contrast of the markets: Damnoen Saduak and especially Maeklong, where the train passes right through, felt almost cinematic. I wrapped up the trip with some shopping in Siam and CentralWorld before a final dinner cruise on the Chao Phraya River.
