Upon arrival in Chiang Mai, we were immediately charmed by the old city, surrounded by ancient moats and remnants of its fortress walls. We took time to visit Wat Phra Singh, stunning with its golden architecture, and the majestic Wat Chedi Luang, with its grand ruined structure. The contrast with the mystical Blue Temple and the enigmatic Black House (Baan Dam) left us utterly fascinated.

We also took time to visit the famous Golden Triangle, the meeting point of Thailand, Laos, and Myanmar. A boat trip along the Mekong River gave us a fresh perspective on this cultural crossroads. This leg of the trip revealed a different side of the north, where contemporary art meets deep-rooted history. Day 13–14: Nan – Phrae – End of 2 weeks in northern Thailand

Founded by renowned artist Winai Prabripoo, this private gallery serves as a contemporary art center, showcasing the works of talented local artists. Nestled along the peaceful banks of the Nan River, the gallery provides a tranquil setting to enjoy a diverse range of exhibitions.

The gallery's architecture, perfectly harmonized with the surrounding nature, and its beautifully landscaped gardens created a space of calm and inspiration. This visit deepened our understanding of Thailand’s contemporary art scene and allowed us to appreciate the creativity of regional artists in a serene and intimate setting.

On our final day, we packed our bags and checked out of our hotel in Nan in the morning. A short domestic flight brought us back to Bangkok, where we spent a few relaxing hours enjoying one last Thai meal before catching our return flight to France.
