II. Detailed Ho Chi Minh City itinerary 4 days

1. Day 1: Ho Chi Minh City tour

Early in the morning, the guide came to pick me up to begin my 4-day journey in Ho Chi Minh City. The first stop of the day was the War Remnants Museum, where I had the opportunity to discover numerous photos, documents, and artifacts preserved from past conflicts.

Binh Tay Market - A must-visit in Ho Chi Minh City in 4 days

Next, I headed to the Binh Tay Market. The guide explained that this market serves as a trading hub between the Vietnamese and Chinese communities, located in the heart of Saigon. We also had lunch at a Chinese restaurant in the area, where the dishes were delicious.

In the afternoon, I explored the downtown area of Ho Chi Minh City and visited iconic sites such as the Independence Palace, Notre-Dame Cathedral of Saigon, and the Central Post Office of Saigon. These buildings feature elegant European architecture mixed with some Asian decorative touches, making them particularly fascinating.

In the evening, I took a stroll along Pham Ngu Lao Street, known for its lively atmosphere. I fully enjoyed the vibrant energy of Saigon at night, an unforgettable experience.

2. Day 2: Saigon - My Tho - Ben Tre - Can Tho

On the second day of my 4-day Saigon itinerary, I ventured through the Mekong Delta. In the morning, I took the road to My Tho. The first stop of the day was Con Lan. I explored a small honey production factory, where I was offered a cup of deliciously fragrant honey tea, accompanied by fruit jam. The guide then took me on a walk through the village, giving me a better understanding of the local lifestyle.

Coconut Candy Workshop in Ben Tre

Next, I participated in a coconut candy-making workshop in Ben Tre. Watching the candy production process was truly fascinating. I also had the chance to taste this sweet treat, and the flavor was wonderfully sweet and infused with coconut.

In the afternoon, I continued my journey to a tropical orchard, where I sampled a variety of fresh seasonal fruits while enjoying a traditional music concert of the region.

I then headed to Can Tho, where I spent the night in this beautiful city, temporarily escaping the hustle and bustle of Ho Chi Minh City.

3. Day 3: Can Tho - Cai Rang - Sai Gon

The third day of my 4-day adventure in Saigon was truly an immersion into local life in southern Vietnam.

In the morning, after breakfast, I boarded a boat heading to the famous Cai Rang floating market, the largest in the Mekong Delta region.

It was a unique experience to glide between boats filled with fruits and other products, where I could observe the lively commercial activity of the locals.

Afterward, I visited a rice mill, where the guide explained each step of rice processing, from harvesting to the finishing of polished grains. It was fascinating to see traditional technology in action and learn more about the importance of rice in Vietnam.

Next, the driver took me back to Ho Chi Minh City, marking the end of my journey in the Mekong Delta.

4. Day 4: Ho Chi Minh City - Cu Chi Tunnels

The final day of my 4-day itinerary in Ho Chi Minh City took me to the Cu Chi Tunnels, not far from the city center. A little over an hour's drive, we arrived at the historic site of the Cu Chi Tunnels. The welcome was already impressive, and the first highlight was a documentary film about the harsh living conditions of the local people during the Vietnam War.

Next, we visited the weapons and tunnel museum, which was truly a journey through time. This underground tunnel network, a real labyrinth, immersed me in the history of the Vietnamese resistance. I got to explore the different defense systems, including homemade traps, and war kitchens, and understand how crucial these sites were for the survival of the Vietnamese fighters.

I spent more than half the day exploring the Cu Chi Tunnels, then returned to the city center and took a walk through the Saigon streets, enjoying street food.

III. Weather in Ho Chi Minh City for 4 days - Forecast for a trip

Regarding the weather in Ho Chi Minh City during my 4-day trip, it took place in December, and the climate was very pleasant at that time. Although it was still a bit hot and sunny, the guide explained that the weather was cooler than during other times of the year.

Despite this, the dry weather allowed me to complete all the outdoor activities planned in the itinerary. The only exception was the last evening when it suddenly rained, but the rain didn’t last long. Overall, the weather in Ho Chi Minh City during my 4 days was quite favorable for a successful trip.

In conclusion, a 4-day stay in Ho Chi Minh City offers authentic experiences for travelers. Thanks to Mr. Kaba for sharing his opinion on the Saigon itinerary for 4 days.
