Day 2: Saigon – Ben Tre (Breakfast, Dinner)
Car Sampan Cruise
Heading towards Ben Tre, famously known as the "kingdom of coconut trees." In the southern part of the city, embark on a boat for a cruise along the Ben Tre River, one of the Mekong's tributaries. This journey will take you to a remarkably traditional brick factory and workshops where you can witness the craftsmanship of making mats and coconut candies.
Enjoy a tropical fruit tasting session in an orchard before boarding a small rowboat. This river ride continues through the heart of the arroyos, lined with water coconut trees.
The day concludes as you arrive at the rural lodge, "Mekong Home".
In the evening, you'll have the opportunity to prepare a famous dish of the Southern Vietnam region called "Banh Xeo" with the family. These savory pancakes are made from rice flour and filled with shrimp and aromatic herbs. After dinner, treat yourself to a delightful foot massage offered by the village youths.

At around 8 o'clock in the morning, explore the surrounding villages and local market on a bike, where lush vegetation thrives. Along the way, you'll have the chance to meet locals working in the orchards and witness the daily life scenes in the Mekong region.
Later, in the afternoon, proceed to Can Tho by vehicle. Upon arrival, visit the historical Binh Thuy ancient house, housing a collection of valuable antiques. Its architecture and decor have been featured in numerous Vietnamese films.
Overnight stay at a hotel in Can Tho.
Day 4: Can Tho - Cai Rang Market – Saigon (Breakfast, Lunch)
Car Sampan Cruise
Early in the morning, embark on a motorboat transfer (approximately 30 minutes) to the vibrant Cai Rang floating market, the largest and liveliest market on the Mekong. It's a spectacular sight with boats loaded with various fruits, smaller boats filled with agricultural products, vegetables, flowers, and even "sampan restaurants" offering meals, tea, coffee, and "sampan bazaars" selling candies, beauty products, and hardware. Vendors advertise their products at the top of long bamboo poles, where the goods for sale are suspended (watermelon, tomato, pineapple, cabbage, coconut, and more).
After the market visit, return to the Can Tho pier and resume the journey to Saigon by vehicle. The return trip no longer requires a ferry crossing, thanks to the recently constructed Can Tho Bridge by the Japanese and the Vinh Long Bridge built by the Australians. Enjoy lunch at a popular Pho restaurant before arriving in Ho Chi Minh City, commonly known as Saigon, which is actually the name of the river that flows through Cho Lon.
Overnight stay at a hotel in Saigon.
The Cai Rang floating market is situated on a branch of the Bassac River, passing through the Cai Rang district. According to legend, the name "Cai Rang" comes from a story of a very large crocodile carried by the current that dug its teeth into the land.
However, in "Les paroles des Sudistes vietnamiens," it is mentioned that the name "Cai Rang" originates from the Khmer language, where "karan" means "ca rang" (head of the household). The Khmers of An Giang used to craft clay pots called "karan" and sold them at the location of the present-day market from year to year. Over time, people replaced the word "karan" with "Cai Rang," which eventually became the common name for this place.
