I. Overview of the Ha Giang itinerary 3 days

I decided to explore Ha Giang for 3 days as soon as I started planning my trip to Vietnam. I was truly fascinated by the breathtaking natural images and intrigued by the vast rice terraces, cultivated with remarkable skill by Vietnamese farmers. My 3-day itinerary in Ha Giang was carefully designed by the Vietnam travel agency Autour Asia. A big thank you to their professionalism, which allowed me to experience an unforgettable journey, exploring stunning landscapes while immersing myself in the vibrant local culture. Here is my detailed review of the Ha Giang Loop 3-day trip.

Ha Giang travel itinerary 3 days:

  • Day 1: Hanoi - Ha Giang - Dong Van - Yen Minh
  • Day 2: Dong Van - Meo Vac - Ha Giang
  • Day 3: Ha Giang - Hanoi

II. Detailed Ha Giang 3-day itinerary

1. Day 1: Hanoi - Ha Giang - Dong Van - Yen Minh

To make the most of my 3 days in Ha Giang, I decided to leave the evening before. The bus picked me up in Hanoi in the evening, and I arrived in Ha Giang city center early in the morning. The bus was very comfortable, allowing me to sleep deeply until we reached our destination.

My first impression of Ha Giang was its fresh and pure air, along with a slight chill that immediately captivated me. That morning, a bowl of pho and a hot cup of coffee were the perfect combination to start my first day in the region.

The first spot on my Ha Giang 3-day trip: Heaven Gate

My first stop was Heaven Gate on the Dong Van Karst Plateau Geopark. After climbing large stone steps, I reached this viewpoint where I could admire Ha Giang’s spectacular nature. Majestic mountain ranges surrounded a valley, and in the center stood the fairy twin mountains, small, round, and graceful. A true masterpiece of nature in this land.

Next, I visited Lung Tam weaving village, home to the Hmong people. There, I witnessed the craftsmanship of local women skillfully weaving beautiful brocade pieces. It was also in this village that I had lunch.

In the afternoon, we continued to Yen Minh to explore the Sung La valley and meet the Hmong and Lo Lo people. Although we didn’t speak the same language, their warm smiles and hospitality deeply touched me.

Our last stop of the day was the Hmong King’s Palace, a place steeped in the architecture and history of the Hmong nobility, perfectly preserved to this day. I then spent the night in Dong Van. Thus ended my first day on this Ha Giang 3-day travel itinerary.

2. Day 2: Dong Van - Meo Vac - Ha Giang

The second day was the most anticipated of my 3-day itinerary in Ha Giang. It was the day of the Sunday market in Dong Van. To make sure I didn’t miss anything, I woke up early to visit the market when it was at its busiest, full of comings and goings. I had the chance to meet many different ethnic groups, each wearing their colorful traditional costumes.

I also tried some local specialties, such as a horse meat soup called Thang Co, accompanied by a sweet and slightly sugary corn alcohol.

Afterward, our driver took us on the Happiness Road towards Meo Vac Ha Giang. We stopped at the Khuoi Khon village, inhabited by the Black Lolo people, recognizable by their dark traditional clothing. After exploring the village, I continued my adventure by climbing the Ma Pi Leng Pass and visiting the Tu San Canyon. This place offers breathtaking views of the Nho Que River, its strikingly green waters winding at the foot of the mountains. The natural beauty of the scene left an unforgettable impression on me. Finally, I made my way to Ha Giang city for the last night of this 3-day trip.

3. Day 3: Ha Giang - Hanoi

The last day of my Ha Giang 3-day itinerary was free, so I took the opportunity to stroll around and admire the rice terraces from a distance. At 9 a.m., the driver picked me up from the hotel for the return trip to Hanoi, where I arrived late in the evening. This marked the end of my 3-day stay in Ha Giang.

III. Weather in Ha Giang 3 Days - Forecast for your trip

Regarding the weather in Ha Giang 3 days, since I visited in November, the climate in the northern mountains of Vietnam was quite cool. I had been advised to bring warm clothing, but once there, I realized it wasn’t as cold as expected. In the morning and late at night, warm clothes are necessary due to the fog, but during the day, a light jacket is more than enough for my visits. The weather in Ha Giang was slightly cool, dry, and rain-free, which was perfect for my Ha Giang 3-day journey exploring the region's natural landscapes.
