With many historical sites of great cultural value, Luang Prabang was recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1995. I visited several remarkable Buddhist sites, such as the Khmer temple of Vat Phou, Vat Aham, which features murals depicting the life of Buddha, and Wat Xieng Thong, one of the oldest temples in Laos. What to do in Luang Prabang, Laos? On the third day of my 15-day Laos Cambodia combined trip, I visited a nature park located about 20 km from Luang Prabang, home to the famous Kuang Si Waterfall. Nicknamed the Land of a Million Elephants, Laos has a deep connection with elephants, and the Lao people greatly respect this majestic animal. They even have an Elephant Festival to honor their sacred bond with these creatures and preserve their traditional culture. That’s why your Laos Cambodia 15 days itinerary wouldn’t be complete without a visit to the Mandalao Elephant Conservation Center, where you can see elephants up close and observe their natural behaviors in an ethical and respectful environment.

Reaching the summit, I was rewarded with a panoramic view of Vang Vieng’s breathtaking nature—one of the most memorable moments of my Laos Cambodia 15-day trip. After that, I returned to town to rest before setting off for Vientiane, the capital of Laos.
Where to go in Laos? In Vientiane, I continued exploring the famous Buddhist landmarks of Laos. I visited the Buddha Park, home to more than 200 Buddha statues, Wat Sisaket, renowned for its thousands of small Buddha images lined along the walls, and Wat Phra Keo, which once housed the Emerald Buddha. Take a Laos Cambodia combined trip. On the eighth day of my 15-day Laos Cambodia tour, I left Vientiane and took a flight to Pakse, heading toward Khone Island, one of the many islands in Laos’ famous 4000 Islands region. Along the way, I stopped to visit Vat Phou, an ancient Hindu temple with Khmer architectural influences. Walking through this historic site felt like traveling back in time, allowing me to uncover a fascinating part of Laos’ ancient history.
One of the most memorable experiences during my 15-day Laos Cambodia itinerary is exploring the 4000 Islands by bicycle - one of the best things to do in Laos. I started from Don Khong Island, following small village paths to reach Don Som Island, where I had the chance to chat with locals and gain insight into their way of life. After more than ten days of discovering the cultural and natural wonders of Laos, I bid farewell to the Land of a Million Elephants and continued my Cambodia trip. On the eleventh day of my 15-day Laos Cambodia trip, I departed from Pakse and took a flight to Siem Reap, a city renowned for the Angkor temple complex. I spent the first day of my trip to Cambodia resting at the hotel and strolling through the lively streets to soak in the vibrant atmosphere of the city.
The next morning, I dedicated my day to exploring Tonlé Sap Lake - one of the best places to visit in Cambodia and the floating village of Kompong Khleang, a peaceful place where stilt houses stand between lush green rice fields and vast waters reflecting the sky. It was truly a paradise for photography lovers. In the afternoon, I returned to Siem Reap and visited the Roluos temple complex, one of Cambodia’s oldest architectural structures.
What to do in Cambodia? I finally embarked on my much-anticipated visit to the legendary Angkor Wat. I woke up early to witness the sunrise over this iconic site and admire the grandeur of the massive temple. On my way back to Siem Reap, I stopped at Ta Prohm, a mesmerizing temple where ancient tree roots intertwined with stone walls, creating a mystical and enchanting sight.
On day 14 of my Laos Cambodia combined trip, I continued exploring Cambodia’s most famous religious sites. I visited several ancient temples, including Preah Khan, Neak Pean, Thommanon, and Chau Say Tevoda, all known for their intricate devata carvings. In the afternoon, I set foot in Angkor Thom, the great city of the Khmer Empire, where I marveled at the Bayon Temple, the Terrace of the Leper King, and the Terrace of the Elephants, all showcasing the grandeur of this ancient civilization.

Day 15 marked the end of my Cambodia trip. Before heading to the airport, I took one last stroll around Siem Reap, savoring the final moments in this legendary land.
