For my Thailand Cambodia tour, I chose to combine two destinations with rich and complementary cultures. Between the Buddhist temples of Thailand, the remains of the Khmer Empire in Cambodia and the diversity of landscapes, this trip promised wonderful discoveries. The geographical proximity of the two countries allowed me to organize a 10-day Thailand Cambodia combined tour, with a varied itinerary and a fast-paced but well-planned schedule to make the most of each stop.
I started with 6 days in Thailand, discovering Bangkok and its temples, the historic ruins of Ayutthaya and the peaceful atmosphere of Chiang Mai. I then continued my adventure with 4 days in Cambodia, exploring the majestic temples of Angkor in Siem Reap and the royal heritage of Phnom Penh. Each stop offered me a new perspective on Southeast Asia, through history, traditions and encounters with local people. If you want to discover these two countries in a single trip, I invite you to follow my itinerary !
To begin 10 days in Thailand Cambodia, I took a flight from Paris to Bangkok, with a direct flight taking around 11 to 12 hours. Having departed the day before, I arrived in the Thai capital on the first day of my tour. After completing the entry formalities, I headed to my hotel to rest and recover from jet lag. In the late afternoon, I enjoyed a boat ride along the Chao Phraya River, with a magnificent view of Wat Arun at sunset. To end this first day, I went to Chinatown, where the lively atmosphere and street food stalls immediately captivated me.
The next day, I started by visiting the Grand Palace and Wat Phra Kaew, famous for its Emerald Buddha, before discovering the impressive Reclining Buddha at Wat Pho. After a lunch break, I boarded a traditional boat to explore the klongs of Thonburi, passing stilt houses and scenes of everyday life. I then headed to Wat Arun to admire its magnificent porcelain decorations up close. At the end of the day, I treated myself to a traditional Thai massage, a pleasant way to relax after these two days filled with discoveries.
Overnight stay at Ambassador Hotel Bangkok, one of the best 3-star hotels in Bangkok (Days 1 and 2)
Just 80 km north of Bangkok, Ayutthaya offered me a real journey into the past of the Kingdom of Siam. If you're wondering what to do in Ayutthaya, I recommend starting with its historic temples, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Early in the morning, I set off for this former capital and explored Wat Mahathat, famous for its Buddha head surrounded by tree roots, before admiring the three large chedis of Wat Phra Si Sanphet.
After lunch accompanied by roti sai mai, a local sweet specialty, I continued my exploration by tuk-tuk to Wat Chaiwatthanaram, on the banks of the Chao Phraya River, known for its Khmer architecture. I enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere of these historic ruins, which reminded me of the connections between the two countries. This excursion enriched my 10-day Thailand Cambodia combined tour. In the late afternoon, I returned to Bangkok for my last night before heading to Chiang Mai the following day. A truly memorable stop !

In the evening, I discovered the welcoming atmosphere of the Night Bazaar and enjoyed khao soi, a delicious local specialty made with curry noodles.
On the fifth day, I devoted my morning to visiting an elephant sanctuary that respects their well-being, where I was able to observe these animals in a natural setting, without riding elephants. In the afternoon, I headed to Wat Phra That Doi Suthep, perched on the hills above Chiang Mai. Its golden chedi and the panoramic view of the city particularly impressed me. If you want to visit Thailand Cambodia in 10 days, I recommend including this stop to enjoy a wonderful combination of nature and spirituality.

These discoveries are among the best things to do in Siem Reap to immerse yourself in local life before exploring the temples of Angkor the following day.
The next day, I woke up early to admire the sunrise over Angkor Wat, a sight that amazed me! I explored its carved galleries before heading to Angkor Thom and Bayon, famous for its mysterious stone faces. Once I arrived and checked into my hotel, I spent the afternoon exploring the Royal Palace, whose golden roofs and Khmer architecture impressed me greatly. I also visited the Silver Pagoda, located within the same complex and famous for its floor covered with thousands of silver tiles.
At the end of the day, I headed to Sisowath Quay for a pleasant stroll along the river, near the confluence of the Tonle Sap and Mekong rivers. I particularly enjoyed the lively atmosphere along the riverbanks, where locals and travelers gathered to enjoy the cool evening air. I ended the day with a Khmer dinner, savoring a delicious fish amok.
