The day began with a pick-up from my hotel in Hanoi’s Old Quarter, around 7:00 AM. The shuttle bus was comfortable and made a few stopovers along the way, perfect for stretching your legs and getting refreshed before arriving at Beo Harbor. I arrived at Beo Harbor at 11:30 AM, where I was transferred by tender to the Sunlight Boutique Cruise Lan Ha Bay. The welcome drink upon boarding was a lovely touch, and I was immediately impressed by the friendly staff who gave me a thorough cruise briefing and safety instructions before I checked into my cabin.
After settling in, I was treated to a delicious Vietnamese lunch at 12:30 PM, featuring fresh seafood and a variety of local favorites. As we sailed through the islands, I couldn’t help but marvel at the stunning views of Lan Ha Bay’s karst landscapes. The peace and tranquility of the bay were unlike anything I’d ever experienced.
At 2:00 PM, we began exploring the bay by kayak, and I had the chance to paddle through the Dark & Light Caves, which were absolutely breathtaking. I took full advantage of that, and it was so much fun.
Later in the evening, at 6:00 PM, we gathered for a cooking class where we learned to make fresh Vietnamese spring rolls. It was a fun, interactive experience, and I was surprised by how easy it was to make such delicious rolls! Dinner followed at 7:00 PM, and the local dishes prepared by the onboard chefs were outstanding. Afterward, I joined a few fellow guests for squid fishing and karaoke, which added to the fun and relaxed atmosphere.
The second day started early, with a beautiful sunrise (although, as it was winter, there was no sunrise this time, but still worth waking up early to enjoy the peaceful bay). Breakfast was served at 7:00 AM, and the view from the boat was simply stunning.
At 8:00 AM, we set off on a bicycle ride to Viet Hai Village. It was a great way to get up close to the natural beauty of Cat Ba National Park. The village was small and charming, and it felt like I had stepped back in time to a simpler way of life. The ride was about 5 km, which was manageable and enjoyable with the picturesque scenery around us.
By 9:30 AM, we returned to the boat, had a refreshing shower, and prepared for check-out. At 11:00 AM, lunch was served on board, and I was already reminiscing about the incredible experience I had just had. We disembarked at Beo Harbor at 12:00 PM and said goodbye to Cat Ba Island before heading back to Hanoi.
The return journey was smooth, and by 4:30 PM, I was back at my hotel in Hanoi, with a heart full of unforgettable memories from this beautiful trip.
