During my Central Laos 7 days trip, I began by discovering Savannakhet, a peaceful and charming town.
I first strolled around Lake Bungva, a quiet spot where locals come to relax at the end of the day. The atmosphere is serene, perfect for admiring the sunset. Next, I visited the lively and colorful Savanxay Market, where I sampled delicious local specialties and exchanged a few smiles with the vendors.
One of the highlights of my time in Savannakhet was visiting the That Ing Hang Stupa, a sacred temple steeped in spirituality and architectural beauty.
Here I spent my days at the Vanpilla Hotel, ideally located near the airport and just minutes from tourist attractions.
Then, I continued my travel to central Laos in 7 days, visiting Xieng Khouang, a fascinating region steeped in history.
One of my first stops was the Tham Xang Cave, a mysterious place surrounded by nature where one feels the spiritual power of the place. Next, I discovered the famous Plain of Jars, a unique and mysterious landscape that immersed me in the mysteries of the past.
I also visited the Navang Craft Center, where I was able to observe local crafts and purchase handmade souvenirs. Finally, I treated myself to a refreshing moment at Tad Ka Waterfall, a little slice of paradise in the heart of the mountains. This stop in Xieng Khouang was, for me, the perfect blend of culture, nature, and unforgettable encounters.
I stayed at Kongkeo Guesthouse, a welcoming haven located in Phonsavan, ideal for exploring the surrounding area.
During my travel to central Laos in 7 days, I discovered the magnificent Thakhek region, in Khammouane Province, and I have unforgettable memories of it.
My exploration began with the Tham Khoun Xe Cave, one of the most impressive I've ever seen, with its spectacular rock formations and navigable underground river. Next, I went to Khoon Kong Leng Lake, famous for its incredibly clear turquoise waters. It's a peaceful, almost magical place, surrounded by nature.
For a bit of an adrenaline rush, I tried the zipline at Rock Viewpoint: it's easy to access, even for beginners, and the panoramic view of the karst mountains is breathtaking. Thakhek truly offered me an immersion in wild nature and total serenity.
I stayed at the Spring River Resort, a little paradise nestled on the river, perfect for relaxing after a day of adventure.
Before setting off on a Central Laos 7 days trip, it is essential to be well prepared to fully enjoy the experience.
First of all, I recommend choosing the right time to visit: the dry season, from November to March, is ideal for exploring the region without too much heat or rain. I went in May, the weather was a bit warm, but there was no rain during the week I traveled.
Next, it's important to book comfortable, well-located accommodation in advance. During my stay, small local guesthouses like Kongkeo in Phonsavan or Vanpilla Hotel in Savannakhet offered me both comfort and authenticity.
I also recommend paying attention to your travel attire, especially when visiting temples: covering and respectful clothing is appreciated.
Finally, plan an itinerary that suits your pace. Central Laos is full of magnificent sites, but it's better to prioritize quality over quantity to truly savor every moment of the trip.
