Mr. Roger’s Remark About 6 Days Itinerary To Yen Bai And Lao Cai

Explore Vietnam's nature on a 6-day Yen Bai Lao Cai tour

Hello everyone, I just completed a 6-day trip to Yen Bai Lao Cai this month. This tour provided me with the opportunity to explore the spectacular landscapes and exotic cultures of the ethnic groups in this region. For six days, as I crossed rice terraced fields, visited ethnic markets, and hiked in the northern mountains, I was surprised every day by the diversity and authenticity of these provinces. Thanks to the Vietnam travel agency Autour Asia, my trip was a success. Through this story, I would like to share my itinerary of the travel to Yen Bai Lao Cai 6 days and the essential destinations of this adventure, for those who want to experience an immersion off the beaten track.

Day 1: Departure from Hanoi and arrival in Nghia Lo

My travel to Yen Bai Lao Cai 6 days began in Hanoi. I left the city early in the morning to avoid traffic. After about a 5-6 hour drive, I arrived in Nghia Lo, the gateway to the Yen Bai Lao Cai region.

On my first day, I visited and stayed at the Chuon Chuon Resort, which features a very interesting dry tube slide and an infinity pool with panoramic views of the majestic mountain and forest landscape.

In the afternoon, I visited Chao Ha Village. It's a community tourism area where the cultural identity of the local ethnic groups is strong. I was able to discover the simple life of the locals through activities such as visiting old stilt houses, visiting the traditional market, and tasting local specialties such as smoked buffalo meat and Muong Lo sticky rice.

Day 2: Rice terraced fields in Mu Cang Chai

On the second day of my travel to Yen Bai Lao Cai 6 days, I traveled to Mu Cang Chai, the jewel of Yen Bai Province. On my way to Mu Cang Chai, I didn't forget to stop at Khau Pha Pass. This is where the paragliding activity takes place every year. Being a thrill-seeker, I signed up for a parachute jump.

Admire the beauty of Khau Pha Pass

I also visited the Lim Mong and Lim Thai valleys, home to Thai villages located just below the Khau Pha Pass. This area is surrounded by vast green fields, a highlight of Mu Cang Chai.

Here, I spent the night at the comfortable Hello Mu Cang Chai Homestay, located high up, perfect for watching the sunset over the hillside.

Day 3: Heading to Sapa via Than Uyen

On day 3 of the travel to Yen Bai Lao Cai 6 days, I departed for Sapa, passing through the districts of Than Uyen and Tan Uyen, in Lai Chau province.

On the way, I crossed the O Quy Ho Pass, one of the four great mountain passes. This place, nicknamed Cong Troi (Gate of Heaven), deeply impressed me with the marvelous spectacle that unfolded before my eyes: a sea of white clouds floating over deep green mountains, like a paradise of mountains and forests.

Don't miss visiting Cong Troi

Next, I stopped at Thac Bac. Thac Bac is a scenic spot that attracts many tourists thanks to the opportunity to admire the white waterfall amidst majestic mountains and forests. This spot is ideal for capturing unforgettable moments: just raise your camera to take magnificent photos.

I stayed at the Sapa Centre Hotel in the center of Sapa town for easy access to other attractions here.

Day 4: Explore Fansipan - Indochina rooftop

After arriving in Sapa, I spent a full day of my Yen Bai Lao Cai 6 days exploring Fansipan. This place, also known as the "Roof of Indochina", offers spectacular scenery at an altitude of 3,143 meters.

In the morning, I walked from downtown Sapa to the Fansipan cable car station. I enjoyed the fresh air and admired the beauty of the Muong Hoa Valley. Then, I took the cable car to admire the most beautiful scenery in Sapa. At the summit, I was able to take photos and admire the panorama, and visit the temples and buildings on the mountain, such as Trinh Pagoda, the largest Buddha statue in Vietnam, and the kilometer marker at the summit of Fansipan, among others.

Day 5: Visit the center of Sapa

On my second day in Sapa, I visited Cat Cat Village. It's an ideal tourist destination for those who want to experience the cultural life of the people of the northwest highlands of Vietnam. Just 2 km from Sapa town center, I admired the traditional houses, giant watermills, fresh streams, and Tien Sa Waterfall. Then I went to see the Sapa Stone Church. It's one of the best-preserved classical French architectural works in Sapa. Located right in the town center, the stone church is considered the most beautiful symbol of Sapa.

Sapa is also famous for its markets. Sapa Market is renowned for its unique brocades, vibrant colors, and delicate patterns of the H'Mong, Red Dao, and Giay people. I particularly chose to go there on the weekend to experience the famous love market, where boys and girls meet and interact over exciting activities such as love songs, leaf trumpets, xoe dance, and more.

Day 6: Return to Hanoi and last memories

To conclude my travel to Yen Bai Lao Cai 6 days, I went to buy some souvenirs from my vacation here. Among the gifts I found interesting were dried buffalo meat, dried fruits, handmade textiles, and jewelry such as necklaces and bracelets. This tour left me with memories that will remain etched in my memory. I was able to immerse myself in the peaceful gentleness of the mountains, the people of the highlands, and the beauty of nature.

This trip to Yen Bai Lao Cai 6 days, truly opened my eyes to a new perspective on Vietnam. Each destination offered me its unique discoveries: varied landscapes, rich ethnic cultures, and, above all, the warm welcome of the locals. This trip also reminded me of the value of slowness and authenticity in the hustle and bustle of today's world. If you're still hesitant to explore these northern provinces, you can, like me, contact Autour Asia to help you plan your trip.

Can I visit the remains of Ba Khe Fort in Lao Cai?

Yes, absolutely! You can visit the remains of Ba Khe Fort located in Ba Khe Village, Yen Bai Province. This ancient fortress, now a provincial historic site, offers a poignant immersion into Vietnam's colonial past, while being surrounded by breathtaking natural landscapes. To access the site, I recommend traveling in spring or fall—the conditions are ideal—and be accompanied by a local guide or driver familiar with rural terrain. Bring comfortable shoes, a hat, water, and a camera: this will allow you to fully enjoy this place steeped in history and nature.
