In the late afternoon he climbed Phnom Bakheng, one of the oldest temples in Angkor, to watch the sun set over the plains and distant towers. The climb is busy, but he found the view worth every step.
With the Angkor Pass bought in the morning, the day ran from the South Gate of Angkor Thom and the faces of the Bayon to the Elephant Terrace, Phimeanakas, the Terrace of the Leper King and Baphuon, then Ta Prohm. He then took a boat through the stilt houses and flooded forest of Kampong Phluk, visited a Buddhist monastery on an artificial island and watched the sunset from a small boat on the lake, before finishing at the Siem Reap Night Art Market.
