Day 1–4: Hanoi – Halong Bay — Start of 3 weeks in Vietnam Cambodia

We kicked off our 3 weeks in Vietnam Cambodia by landing in Hanoi, the millennial capital of Vietnam. Upon arrival, we received a warm welcome from the Vietnam travel agency – Autour Asia, who transferred us to our hotel for some well-deserved rest after the flight.

The next day, we explored the historic heart of the city: Hoan Kiem Lake, the Temple of Literature, and the Old Quarter with its 36 bustling streets. These iconic sites gave us an authentic glimpse into Vietnamese culture.

On day 3, we headed to the world-famous Halong Bay, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. After a comfortable bus ride, we boarded a cruise for a memorable journey among spectacular karst formations. A fresh seafood lunch on deck, surrounded by breathtaking scenery, marked the perfect start to our adventure through 3 weeks in Vietnam Cambodia.

Day 5–8: Hanoi – Sapa – Immersion in Northwestern Vietnam

After returning to Hanoi from Halong Bay, we boarded a comfortable overnight train to Lao Cai, the gateway to the mountainous region of Sapa. Upon arrival, we were captivated by the terraced rice fields and misty mountains. We spent the day exploring Cat Cat Village, discovering the traditional crafts of the Black Hmong people.

The following day, we hiked through lush green valleys to the villages of Lao Chai and Ta Van, interacting with smiling locals. A highlight of the day was sharing a traditional meal with a local family—an authentic cultural exchange that deeply enriched our journey.

On the seventh day of our 3 weeks in Vietnam and Cambodia, we visited Sapa's vibrant market, where ethnic minority communities sell their handmade goods. Later, we took the night train back to Hanoi, reflecting on the unforgettable moments of this cultural immersion in northern Vietnam.

Day 9–11: Hanoi – Da Nang – Ho Chi Minh City — Central & Southern Vietnam

On the ninth day of our 3 weeks in Vietnam and Cambodia, we left Hanoi and flew to Da Nang. Upon arrival, we visited the Marble Mountains, a cluster of limestone hills housing sacred pagodas and caves. Then, we explored the enchanting Ancient Town of Hoi An, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, famous for its charming alleys and colorful lanterns.

On the tenth day, we headed to Hue, the former imperial capital of Vietnam. We explored the Imperial City, the Thien Mu Pagoda, and the Tomb of Emperor Tu Duc, all reflecting the historical richness of Vietnam.

On day 11, we flew to Ho Chi Minh City, where we had time to rest and prepare for the next leg of our journey. This stage allowed us to immerse ourselves in the culture and history of central and southern Vietnam, adding even more depth to our 3 weeks in Vietnam Cambodia.

Day 12–14: Ho Chi Minh City – Cambodia – Phnom Penh – Siem Reap

On the day 12 of our 3 weeks in Vietnam Cambodia, we left Ho Chi Minh City and traveled by comfortable bus to Phnom Penh, the capital of Cambodia. This vibrant city blends the charm of the past with modern life. We visited the Royal Palace with its iconic Silver Pagoda, as well as the Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum, a powerful and emotional witness to the country’s recent history.

On day 13, we continued our journey to Siem Reap, gateway to the legendary Angkor temples. Along the way, we admired the peaceful Cambodian countryside with its rice fields and traditional villages. That evening, we enjoyed some free time to explore the town and sample the delicious local cuisine.

On day 14, we began our visit to the breathtaking Angkor site, discovering iconic temples: Angkor Wat, Bayon, and Ta Prohm, where ancient stone meets the roots of towering trees—a magical highlight of our 3 weeks in Vietnam Cambodia.

Day 15–17: Angkor Wat – Tonlé Sap

On the day 15 of our 3 weeks in Vietnam Cambodia, we began our deep dive into the iconic Angkor archaeological site. At dawn, we witnessed the magical sunrise over Angkor Wat, a moment of peace and wonder. We continued to explore Bayon Temple, known for its smiling stone faces, and Ta Prohm, where nature reclaims its space among ancient ruins.

On day 16 of our 3 weeks in Vietnam Cambodia, we visited Banteay Srei, often called the “Citadel of Women” thanks to its delicate pink sandstone carvings. We also explored the vast monastic complex of Preah Khan and the unique island temple Neak Pean, located in the middle of a sacred pond.

On day 17, we took a break from the temples for an excursion to Tonlé Sap Lake. Aboard a traditional boat, we navigated through floating villages, gaining insight into the unique daily life of the local Cambodian communities.

Day 18–21: Sihanoukville – Koh Rong – Beach holiday for 3 weeks in Vietnam Cambodia

On day 18, we left Siem Reap and traveled south to Sihanoukville, a well-known seaside town in Cambodia. Upon arrival, we settled into a beachfront hotel and enjoyed a relaxing afternoon on the soft white sands, lulled by the sound of the waves.

The paradise island of Koh Rong

The next morning, we boarded a ferry to the paradise island of Koh Rong. After a 45-minute ride, we were welcomed by turquoise waters and untouched beaches. We spent the next two days soaking in the island’s beauty — swimming, snorkeling, and discovering vibrant marine life. Our evenings were spent dining by the sea, savoring fresh seafood while watching unforgettable sunsets.

On the twenty-first day, we returned by ferry to Sihanoukville and boarded a flight back home, our hearts full of unforgettable memories. This beach retreat was the perfect finale to our 3 weeks in Vietnam Cambodia, leaving us both relaxed and amazed by the natural wonders of Cambodia.
