II. What to do in Phu Quoc? 2-day detailed itinerary
1. Day 1: Sao Beach - Vinpearl Safari - Dinh Cau Night Market
What to do in Phu Quoc in 2 days? I kicked off my 2 days in Phu Quoc with a visit to Sao Beach, one of the best things to do in Phu Quoc. The moment I stepped onto the soft, powdery sand and dipped my toes into the crystal-clear water, I knew I was in paradise. The beach’s tranquil atmosphere and unspoiled beauty made it the perfect place to unwind and relax. If you’re looking for a peaceful escape, Sao Beach is an absolute must on your Phu Quoc itinerary.
After a morning spent basking in the sun, I treated myself to a delicious seafood lunch at a cozy beachfront restaurant. The fresh Goi Ca Trich (raw herring salad) and grilled shrimp were incredibly flavorful, and eating with the sound of the waves crashing nearby made the experience even better. Phu Quoc’s seafood is some of the freshest I’ve ever had, and I highly recommend it.
In the afternoon, I headed to Vinpearl Safari, where I got to see a wide variety of exotic animals in a natural, open environment. It was a unique experience to see giraffes, elephants, and other wildlife up close. After the safari, I made my way to VinWonders, the island’s large amusement park. I had a blast on the thrilling rides and enjoyed the live performances. Whether you're into animals or adventure, these attractions are definitely among the best things to do in Phu Quoc.
To end my first day in 2 days in Phu Quoc, I visited the bustling Dinh Cau Night Market. The market had everything from handmade souvenirs to mouthwatering street food. I couldn’t resist trying Banh Xeo (Vietnamese pancakes) and Banh Canh (thick noodle soup), both of which were delicious. The lively atmosphere, vibrant colors, and delicious food made it a fantastic way to experience the local culture.
2. Day 2: Ham Ninh Fishing Village - Phu Quoc National Park - Sunset Sanato Beach Club
What to do in Phu Quoc? On my second day, I visited Ham Ninh Fishing Village. The village was quiet and charming, offering a glimpse into traditional life on the island. I had the opportunity to try the freshest crab I’ve ever tasted, caught right from the waters surrounding Phu Quoc. If you’re interested in local culture, this is definitely a must-visit spot.
Next, I headed to Phu Quoc National Park for a refreshing hike. The park’s lush greenery, towering trees, and diverse wildlife made it a nature lover’s dream. During my trek, I discovered Suoi Tranh, a peaceful waterfall surrounded by streams, where I took a moment to cool off and appreciate the tranquility of the island. If you enjoy outdoor activities, hiking in the national park is one of the best things to do in Phu Quoc.
For lunch, I stopped by Duong Dong Town and tried Com Tam (broken rice with grilled pork), which was simple yet packed with flavor. The town’s lively atmosphere and bustling streets were a great place to experience authentic Vietnamese life while enjoying a delicious meal.
In the afternoon, I visited Long Beach to relax on the soft sand and swim in the calm waters. Afterward, I made my way to a local pepper farm, where I learned about Phu Quoc’s famous pepper production process. I even bought some pepper to take home as a souvenir. A visit to a pepper farm is a great way to learn about the island’s agricultural heritage and pick up a unique gift.
To end my 2 days in Phu Quoc, I went to Sunset Sanato Beach Club to watch the sunset over the ocean. The view was absolutely stunning, and sipping a cocktail while the sun dipped below the horizon was the perfect way to wrap up my trip. The peaceful setting made for a memorable and relaxing end to my adventure.
III. Some useful travel tips for your visit
Here are some useful tips during my 2 days in Phu Quoc. Hopefully, these tips can help you prepare fully for your next trip:
Best time to visit: Phu Quoc is great to visit year-round, but the best time is from November to April, when the weather is dry and sunny. The island sees a lot of rainfall during the monsoon season (May to October), so plan accordingly for a more pleasant experience.
Getting around: Taxis, motorbike rentals, and car hires are available for getting around the island. Renting a motorbike is a great option if you want flexibility and enjoy exploring at your own pace. Just be sure to drive cautiously and wear a helmet.
Sun protection: The sun can be intense in Phu Quoc, especially around midday. Be sure to bring sunscreen, sunglasses, and a hat to protect yourself from the sun’s rays.
Stay hydrated: With the tropical climate, it’s important to drink plenty of water throughout your trip to stay hydrated. Bring a refillable water bottle to save on plastic and enjoy the island’s natural beauty responsibly.
Pack light and comfortable: Pack light, breathable clothing, especially if you plan to spend a lot of time outdoors. Comfortable shoes are also a must for walking or hiking through national parks and beaches.
