Visit Linh Ung Pagoda On Son Tra Peninsula When Travel To Da Nang

I. Introduction about the Linh Ung Pagoda

In the list of beautiful pagodas in Da Nang, there are 3 temples named Linh Ung. Among them, one is in Ngu Hanh Son, one is in Ba Na and one is in Bai But (Son Tra). But the most famous and mentioned pagoda is Linh Ung Pagoda on Son Tra peninsula - the largest pagoda in Da Nang in both scale and artistic architecture that we will introduce in this article.

1. Location

Address: Hoang Sa, Quang Tho, Son Tra Peninsula, Da Nang
Open time: 6:00 am - 9:00 pm
Nestled within the awe-inspiring Son Tra Peninsula in Da Nang, Vietnam, rests the resplendent Linh Ung Pagoda, a grandiose Buddhist sanctuary. Positioned strategically, this temple boasts unparalleled vistas of the cityscape and the majestic expanse of the East Sea. Revered by pilgrims and cherished by tourists, its setting beckons all to experience its sublime beauty firsthand.

2. Legend of the Linh Ung Pagoda Son Tra

In the reign of King Minh Mang (1820-1841), during the Nguyen Dynasty, a mysterious statue of Buddha appeared on the sandbank of the Son Tra Peninsula. No one could explain how the statue got there, but its presence was seen as a sign of good fortune and divine blessing. The coastal fishermen and residents of the area, deeply moved by the statue's arrival, decided to build a small shrine to house it. The sandbank where the Buddha statue drifted was then named Bai But (Buddha land on earth), also where Linh Ung Pagoda was erected today.
As time passed, the pagoda grew in size and importance. More buildings were added, including the main hall, the lecture hall, and the ancestral house. The pagoda became a respected place of worship, attracting pilgrims from all over Vietnam. In 2004, the pagoda's most iconic landmark was unveiled: the Lady Buddha Danang statue. Standing at a magnificent 67 meters tall, it remains the tallest Buddha statue in Vietnam.

II. The unique architecture of Linh Ung pagoda

1. Main Shrine

The Main Shrine of this place is truly an excellent architectural work, with a delicate blend of modern beauty and Vietnamese Buddhist tradition. The architecture of the shrine is created by a delicate combination of modern style and ancient traditions, especially  Its three-tiered roof gracefully arches upward, reminiscent of a dragon's sinuous scales, with golden dragons perched along the ridges, symbolizing strength and safeguarding.
Stepping inside this shrine visitors will immediately feel the quiet, solemn, and deeply peaceful space. The main shrine of this pagoda (one of the best pagodas in Vietnam) is divided into two important parts: the front hall is brilliant with statues of Buddha, Bodhisattvas, and gods, along with parallel sentences written in sophisticated Chinese characters. The back of the shrine is the space to worship Shakyamuni Buddha, with a 10-meter high Buddha statue, cast from solid bronze, creating an impressive sacred and solemn picture. This is the place to explore Buddhist philosophy, admire the temple's wonderful architecture, and enjoy the peaceful space, peaceful, bringing profound spiritual experiences to everyone. Come to visit Linh Ung Pagoda and experience this wonderful feeling.

2. The outstanding Lady Buddha Statue in Linh Ung Pagoda

The towering centerpiece of the pagoda, the Lady Buddha, also known as Bodhisattva Avalokiteshvara, stands as a magnificent statue, soaring 67 meters high. This colossal figure, with its 17 gracefully outstretched arms and seated on a lotus throne, reigns as Vietnam's tallest Lady Buddha statue and one of Southeast Asia's most monumental. A symbol of hope and compassion, it stands sentinel over the city, casting its benevolent gaze upon its people.
At its base lies a lotus-shaped platform, an embodiment of purity and spiritual awakening in Buddhism. Intricately designed with 12 petals, each representing a stage on the path to enlightenment, this base adds profound spiritual depth to the statue. Visitors are welcomed to ascend within the statue itself, ascending to a viewing platform nestled at the heart of the lotus blossom. From this vantage point, a breathtaking panorama unfolds, a mesmerizing vista that encompasses the scenic Son Tra Peninsula and the vast expanse of the East Sea. It's a memorable experience, offering an unparalleled view that captivates the soul.

Guide To Vietnam’s Pre-Arrival Form 2026 (72 Hours Before Arrival)

Planning a trip to Vietnam? Before packing your bags, take a few minutes to check the latest entry requirements and prepare the documents you may need at the airport.

Vietnam’s Pre-Arrival Information (PAI) system allows international travellers to submit selected personal, visa and travel details online before arriving in the country. After a successful submission, the system generates a QR code that travellers can save on their phones or print for use during immigration procedures. Although the online declaration is designed to help make arrival procedures smoother, travellers should understand when it applies, how to complete it correctly and which documents they still need to enter Vietnam.

In this practical guide, you will discover where to access the official PAI portal, what information to prepare, how to complete the declaration step by step, how to correct common mistakes and what to do when you arrive at the airport.

Important: Vietnam’s PAI arrangements may change as the system is implemented. Check the latest official guidance before departure. The PAI declaration is not a visa application and does not replace any visa or entry permission you may need.
