My 2-day trip to Koh Yao Yai was a perfect mix of nature exploration and unique cultural experiences. From lush mangrove forests to soft white-sand beaches, this island truly offers a peaceful escape close to nature. Even though I traveled alone, I felt the warmth of both nature and the locals, making this a memorable part of my Thailand adventure.

On the first day of my Koh Yao Yai 2-day itinerary, I took a speedboat from Phuket to Koh Yao Yai and checked into the beautiful Santhiya Koh Yao Yai Resort & Spa, known for its traditional wooden architecture and stunning ocean views. In the morning, I visited the Mini Farm at Santhiya, where I fed the animals and enjoyed the fresh, peaceful atmosphere. In the afternoon, I went kayaking through the mangrove forests in the island’s south – a unique experience, watching rare birds and enjoying the absolute tranquility of the lush greenery. I ended my first day with a delicious dinner at the resort’s restaurant, feeling completely relaxed after a long day.

On the second day, I visited the Koh Yao Elephant Care & House, where I had the chance to meet and learn about elephants, a highly respected animal in Thai culture. Later, I headed to the northern part of the island to spend my afternoon at Laem Haad Beach – one of Koh Yao Yai’s most beautiful beaches, known for its soft white sand and clear waters. Swimming and relaxing here was the perfect way to wrap up my journey. Finally, I took the speedboat back to Phuket, bringing home beautiful memories of these wonderful 2 days in Koh Yao Yai.

II. What to do in Koh Yao Yai in 2 days?

1. Day 1: Exploring the southern part of Koh Yao Yai

The first day of my 2-day trip to Koh Yao Yai started early in the morning. I left Phuket and took a speedboat to the island. After about 30-45 minutes cruising on the emerald waters of the Andaman Sea, I arrived at Koh Yao Yai – a peaceful, unspoiled island, a world apart from the hustle and bustle of Phuket.

So, what to do in Koh Yao Yai? After checking in and resting for a while, I began my 2-day Koh Yao Yai trip to explore the southern part of the island by visiting the Mini Farm at Santhiya. This small farm within the resort allows guests to experience the rural life of Thailand. I had the chance to feed goats, sheep, and rabbits, chat with the farm staff, and enjoy the fresh, cool air under the green trees. The well-kept farm made me feel close to nature, helping me escape the hustle of modern life.

The mangrove forests in the south of Koh Yao Yai are a completely different world, with a rich ecosystem and untouched landscapes. If you ask me what to do in Koh Yao Yai in 2 days to completely immerse yourself in nature, I highly recommend this activity. Paddling through the narrow channels, I felt the serenity and natural beauty around me. I could hear birds singing, leaves rustling, and water gently lapping against the kayak, creating a natural symphony. As the golden sunset painted the waters, the scenery turned magical, making it impossible not to capture every moment of this 2-day Koh Yao Yai itinerary with my camera.

After a long day, I returned to the resort, relaxed in the infinity pool, and watched the sun set over the horizon. Dinner that night was a memorable experience, with fresh seafood and rich Thai flavors. Under the twinkling lights and the sound of waves, I felt all my fatigue melt away, replaced by a sense of peace and happiness as a lonely traveler but passionate about discovering Koh Yao Yai in 2 days.

2. Day 2: Visiting Koh Yao Elephant Care & House and relaxing at Laem Haad Beach

My second day of my Koh Yao Yai 2-day trip began early. After a good night’s sleep in the wooden villa surrounded by nature, I woke up to the sound of waves and the fresh island breeze. After breakfast, I packed my bags, checked out, and began exploring the northern part of the island.

My first stop was Koh Yao Elephant Care & House – one of the best places to visit in Koh Yao Yai if you spend 2 days in Koh Yao Yai with your family. It is one of the few places on the island where visitors can meet and learn about elephants, Thailand’s iconic animals. Here, I had the chance to feed the elephants, learn about their care and conservation, and hear stories about the special bond between elephants and people in Thai culture. Although it was a short visit, it was a truly memorable experience that deepened my connection with nature.

Next, I headed to Laem Haad Beach, one of the most beautiful beaches on Koh Yao Yai. With its long stretch of white sand and crystal-clear waters, it’s a paradise for beach lovers. I spent the afternoon swimming, relaxing on the warm sand, and enjoying the peaceful island atmosphere. If you’re planning a 2-day Koh Yao Yai trip, Laem Haad is a perfect destination for those looking to escape the crowds.
