We are the Lambiel family, originally from France. In September 2025, we spent 2 days in Quy Nhon with kids to celebrate our eldest son's graduation. My husband and I, along with myparents in-laws and our two children, Francois (18) and Yvonne (12), shared some truly wonderful moments during this 2-day family trip in Quy Nhon.
Before leaving, we had quite a few doubts: would two days be enough? Would the schedule be too packed for a multigenerational family? After several successful trips to Vietnam, my husband and I started comparing different coastal cities to plan our trip to Quy Nhon in 2 days with family. Da Nang and Nha Trang were on our radar at first, but the idea of spending 2 days in Quy Nhon with kids quickly won us over. The city felt more authentic and less crowded, which made it a peaceful choice for a multigenerational getaway.

The hotel's ocean-facing setting immediately won over the grandparents. Our kids, Francois and Yvonne, were mostly amazed by the space. We had a relaxed lunch, rested for a while, and then headed out for our afternoon visits.
At Ghenh Rang, we started by climbing the stone steps leading up to Poet's Hill (Doi Thi Nhan). The view from the top is wide and open. You can take in the entire Quy Nhon coastline in the soft late-afternoon light. Francois spent a good amount of time taking photos, as the natural light brought out the best of the sea views.
The Empress Beach (or Bai Trung) left us with a more mixed impression. The spot remains very natural. Pebbles and rocks dominate the landscape, and facilities are minimal. We appreciated the simplicity and the absence of commercial clutter. That said, travelers used to organized beaches with sun loungers and full services may find it a bit basic. The grandparents found the rocky terrain slightly tricky to navigate. So this is not a comfort beach, but rather a place to observe and photograph.
The most memorable moment at Ghenh Rang was the visit to the Han Mac Tu memorial site. The space is modest but deeply moving. Reading a few excerpts from his poems while facing the sea adds another layer to the visit. Yvonne asked us several questions about his life. It was a quiet, cultural moment that gave real meaning to our time in Quy Nhon in 2 days with family.
The visit continued at Quy Hoa Leper Village. This place touched us deeply. The atmosphere is calm, almost intimate. Bougainvillea adds splashes of color and the shaded walkways invite a slow, peaceful stroll. Learning about the story of Han Mac Tu here gave us the feeling of stepping into another era. In the evening, we had dinner at Com Nha 1989. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, with a menu focused on traditional local dishes. We tried grilled fish, sauteed shrimp, a seafood soup, and a braised beef dish served with fragrant rice. The flavors were well-balanced and worked well for both adults and kids. The grandparents especially appreciated the straightforward recipes and the freshness of the ingredients.
For the second day of our 2-day family trip in Quy Nhon, we started with a buffet breakfast at the hotel. The pace was more energetic than the day before, as the program revolved around the sea and nature. At 8 a.m., our vehicle picked us up and headed toward Nhon Ly.
Our first stop was Phuong Mai peninsula. Located about 20 kilometers from the center of Quy Nhon, this dune sits on the Phuong Mai peninsula, close to the sea. We had read that it was a large dune, but in reality it looks more like asand hill. The highest point reaches around 100 meters. The heat was already noticeable in the morning, and there was very little shade.
We chose to climb only the lower section to take a few photos. The landscape is pleasant with an open view of the coastline, though the overall experience is fairly simple. Francois wanted to stay a little longer to capture images with his camera. The rest of us, along with the grandparents and Yvonne, came back down quickly as the sun was getting intense. One upside is that there is no entrance fee. Compared to the more developed dunes of Phan Thiet, Phuong Mai peninsula is much more low-key and less crowded.
We then took a speedboat to reach Ky Co. Arriving by sea felt refreshing and gave a positive first impression. The beach offers white sand and turquoise water. The color of the water is genuinely beautiful when the sun is out. However, the place can get lively mid-morning as tour groups start arriving.
Francois immediately tried the jet ski. He enjoyed the speed and found the supervision satisfactory. Yvonne preferred to stay in the shallow area for a relaxed swim. The grandparents mostly walked along the shore and settled in the shade to enjoy the view. For our family, Ky Co was the highlight of our Quy Nhon in 2 days with family. It is not a remote wild beach, but it is well-organized and suited to different age groups.
At noon, the speedboat took us to Bai Dua for a snorkeling session. The water was clear enough to spot colorful fish near the rocks. It is not a spectacular reef, but for a first family experience, it works well. Yvonne loved watching the small fish swimming around her. Free activities like floating rings added a fun touch to the moment.
Lunch was at Hai San Quy Nhon restaurant, located at 48 Hai Cang. We had grilled shrimp, stir-fried squid with garlic, fish soup, steamed shellfish, and white rice. The shrimp and shellfish were the favorites at the table. The ingredients were fresh and the portions were decent. The setting is simple, but the quality of the seafood matches what you would expect from a coastal city.
In the afternoon, we explored Eo Gio. The site is known for its rock formations and a paved trail along the sea. The contrast between the dark rocks and blue water creates a photogenic landscape. The wind was fairly strong, which made the walk pleasant despite the heat. The place is more impressive for its panoramic views than for specific activities. The final stop was Ngoc Hoa Monastery. The site features a large Quan Am statue facing the sea. The atmosphere is calm and respectful. We made sure to wear clothing that covered shoulders and knees. During our visit to Doi Cat Phuong Mai, we quickly realized that the heat can become intense, even in the morning. At Eo Gio as well, sun exposure is strong and shade remains limited. We found it more comfortable to visit these sites early in the day. For Ky Co, the morning offers calmer waters and softer light. The sea conditions directly influence water activities.
For our 2-day family trip in Quy Nhon, staying at a hotel close to the sea made getting around easier and allowed for relaxing moments at the end of the day. Accessibility is an important factor when traveling with elderly people. Elevators, easy access and comfortable rooms all contribute to the quality of the stay. The buffet breakfast also played an essential role. Before a full day between Ky Co and Eo Gio, a proper meal helps keep the pace without stress.
We sometimes underestimated the intensity of the sun. Hats, sunscreen and plenty of water are essential, especially for kids. At Eo Gio, the trail runs along rocky areas. Suitable footwear makes walking safer and more enjoyable. During the visit to Ngoc Hoa Monastery, we wore clothing covering the shoulders and knees out of respect for the site.
Our experience of 2 days in Quy Nhon with kids will remain a precious memory for the entire Lambiel family. This short trip allowed us to discover a coastal destination that is still unspoiled and well suited to multigenerational travel. Between Ghenh Rang, Ky Co, Eo Gio and Ngoc Hoa Monastery, each stop found its place naturally in our Quy Nhon in 2 days with family itinerary.
